Around The Prado Museum

Yesterday, at midday, we went for a walk around the Prado museum. In the background  (picture above) you can see the entrance to the Botanical garden.  I have been in the Prado museum and the Botanical garden several times, and wouldn't mind visiting one more time, but this time we just went sightseeing.

Some posters displaying what will on the Prado soon.

Across the paseo del Prado,  there are many small restaurants which offer typical Spanish food including delicious  "tapas".

The Treasures Of A Little Park In Madrid

This park is next to my son's school. Sometimes I sit  here to wait for him and I find many treasures, like tree branches and leaves lying on the ground. I take them home as if they were gold.

A Restaurant In London

This restaurant is  on Gloucester Road, Kensington, London. Well, it's my interpretation of a restaurant I saw last February. What I love about it are the little details, like the plants, lamps, the decorated door.....

White Paper Flowers (DIY)

If you have followed my posts for a while you must have noticed by now that I like white. It has become sort of an obsession. Everything has to be white. Here you have some white paper flowers that I made  using recycled paper from my printer.  I got some tree branches from a park, painted them white with acrylic paint and then used  a white-off wrapping string to make a stigma and wrap the petals around the stigma. I also used the wrapping string to decorate a mason jar where I have put my white flowers.

On Cardboard Boxes

Tita's family was in the process of moving to a new house so she decided to sit on a bundle of cardboard boxes. The best place to supervise everybody's work. Don't you think?

Paint Box

I've just finished decorating my paint box with découpage. On one side the city and on the other side the countryside.

Shells

When my son was a little boy he liked to collect shells. Everywhere we went along the coast we bought some shells. He also got many as presents;  so now he's got two boxes full of them. I love to look at them. Their shapes are simply perfect. Don't you think?

Dawn Again

Some days ago I made pictures again of a spectacular dawn in Paracuellos de Jarama. I think it was about 7.20 in the morning. Hope you like them too.

Evening walk

These are some of the things I see I around my house when I go for a walk in the evening. So much peace, so much beauty.

My desk

I'm so proud of my new desk. It's an Ikea glass tabletop with white wood table legs. What I love the most  about my office is the light that enters through my window and fills everything. That's Madrid, a city full of light.
My screensaver was designed by my much admired Gennine. She gives one for free every month. One day -who knows- I will design my own screensavers and give them away to my readers.

Prairie Dog

I saw this little guy in a picture some days ago and I had to draw it. It reminded me of our visits to Faunia when my son was a little boy.

The Hunter

I love Alma's expression when she goes hunting. That tail pointing to the sky and that stealthy way of walking.

Decorated Stones

Remember my rice paper? Well, I soon made good use of it. The dog is painted, but the birds and the lamp are découpage. They're so heavenly.

Rice Paper For Découpage

Last Saturday, on our way to a Moroccan restaurant,  we came across a really nice craft store where they sell rice paper for découpage. I saw it through  the window-shop and I got really excited. We went in and bought two sheets of paper. Of course, it had to be something with animals.

The idea is to cut out the designs and glue them onto a box, a piece of furniture, etc. I don't know what I'll do with it, but I makes me so happy just to look at the designs.

By the way, it had to be Italian. They always have such a good taste. This is their website.

Another treasure.

Resting

I've talked about Doro (the dog) and Obi (the cat) in this blog before. They are my brother and sister-in-law's pets. They live in London and they get along very well, as you can see. If you imagined they have a nice life, I must say you are completely right.  Wish I could be there resting too.

Going Out For Lunch In Madrid

Mark and I went out for lunch on Saturday. On our way to a Morrocan restaurant (yes, I got a coupon) I couldn't help to start making pictures with my iPhone.  I know the pics aren't great (too much light) but I wanted to share them with you so badly. There were such beautiful details all around us. For example, these drawings on the walls of a Pharmacy on Lope de Vega street.
Then, a beautiful old bakery. So full of colors and delicious bread and cakes!

To the left museum Lope de Vega, a very important Spanish playwright and poet of  the16th century.

This is a home decor shop. Really nice, but pricey.
