Spanish Bocadillo

A "bocadillo" is not exactly a sandwich in English, but I can't find a better word than "sandwich" to say "bocadillo".  Well, in any case this is a Spanish sandwich made with Spanish ham. Hope you like it.

Spanish Farmer

I have been playing with my new watercolors on my sketchbook. Not the right kind of paper, but better than nothing.

Spanish Orange

I passed by a bookshop last Friday and I bought a watercolor pan and a brush for less than 3 euros. I know it is not the right kind of paper (my sketchbook has very thin sheets) but it has been such an enormous pleasure to paint with watercolors.  You see, before I only had  tubes. They are not easy to handle because you have to open them, think of the amount of paint you are going to need, mix the colors on a plate and use them quickly to avoid drying up. So I was never able to paint because of lack of time. Now with my new watercolor pan it is much easier  I should have thought about it before, how silly!

The cheapest vice ever, a watercolor pan.

Orange Butterfly

The same leaves that I turned into a reindeer, are now a butterfly.

Cantaloupe Raindrops

Some days ago I made some flowers with these cantaloupe seeds, today I've made some raindrops.

Tiny Rose Petals

These petals are from a tiny rose from my garden. I was playing with them for a while and finally I turned them into a flower.

Windmill from La Mancha

I visited these windmills en La Mancha, many years ago. I think it was in Alcázar de San Juan.

Really inspiring!

When drawing the Italian pasta I came across this man, Pietro Barilla. He was the founder of the company Barilla. More about him.

Italian Sausages

Now is the turn for sausages. I like their colors and shapes, but I'm not a big fan of sausages.

Artichoke II

I like artichokes very much because they seem to be like flowers which had to become hard. Difficult life made them edible. This was my first artichoke.

Italian Cheeses

Most days I can only draw on my sketchbook because of lack of time, that's why my drawings aren't straight and well framed. Anyway, these cheeses seem to be delicious.

Biscotti

These are Italian biscuits. They are called "biscotti" en Italian. I'm still busy with my drawings from Italy. Can't get enough out of it.

Somewhere In Italy

I have always had an obsession with Italy. I love its arquitecture, food, ice cream, clothes, the people on the streets, like they had all the time in the world to talk and enjoy life.

Van Gogh At The Thyssen Museum

I went to an exhibition about Van Gogh and  the Impressionism at the Thyssen Museum yesterday. There were only 5 paintings of Van Gogh, but he was by far the painter that I liked the most.

As usual photos were not allowed, so I had to do with some pictures of the posters at the entrance.

Want to know more about the exhibition?  Read here.

Tea Time

Would you like to have a cup of tea?

Red Tulip

My son brought some tulip bulbs from Holland last Christmas when we went to visit his grandparents. One of these bulbs is already a nice tulip. I just simply love it.

My Bagels

Finally, I made some bagels. Their shape is a bit weird, but I hope they taste good. This was the recipe that I used.

Quokka

This nice little fellow, that I just discovered two days ago, lives in Australia. Its name is Quokka and  it's said to be nice and friendly. It reminds of someone.....

Bagel

The last time ate bagels was many, many years ago when I was living in the States.

I saw a recipe of homemade bagels yesterday, and I was totally tempted to make them. I had heard it was impossible to make them at home, but I think I'll give them a try. I know two people who are going to be very happy with this idea.

In  Madrid, Spain you can buy them frozen in this shop.

Here is the recipe just in case you want to give them a try too.

Breakfast

This was Mark's breakfast this morning. Cappuccino, fresh orange juice, two pieces of toast with olive oil, two fried eggs, a piece of Spanish ham and three slices of tomato. I enjoy very much watching him preparing any kind of food for himself. He's certainly an expert.

I had to make the picture very fast because he didn't want to wait, that's why it's not well framed.

Crested Macaque

I saw this beautiful and funny monkey on a piece of news from the BBC some days ago. I love his way of looking. It seems to me he's a pretty intelligent fellow and kind of punky.

Bottle

A very simple bottle. No colors, only black and shades.

Shell

Sometimes I see objects around me that I think are worth drawing. They always convey some kind of message.
