How To Make An Easy And Delicious Apple Strudel In 30 Minutes

I remember that my mother used to make, every now and then, apple strudels when I was a child. They were so delicious we devoured them in a few minutes.

But apple strudels are not so easy to make because you need to work a lot kneading the layered pastry. So, recently she came up with another version of her apple strudel that it only takes about 30 minutes to make.

The secret for getting such a speedy strudel  is to buy the layered (puff)  pastry. You can get it at any supermarket. Below you can see a picture of the one I bought in Mercadona (Spain).  You can buy layered pastry (hojaldre) that doesn't raise or the puff version.

You will need:

  • 3 granny smith apples.
  • Some raisins
  • Some nuts (optional)
  • One coffee spoon of ground cinammon
  • 5 big spoons of sugar
  • 80 grams of unsalted butter
  • The juice of half an orange
  • Baking paper

Start by peeling and slicing the apples. Fry them in a pan with the butter until brown, add the sugar, the raisins, nuts, ground cinammon, and the orange juice. Mix all the ingredients very well.

Place the fried apples on the pastry.

Roll the pastry around the fried apples. Make sure to press the two opposite edges so that the liquid can't come out.

This is a very important step. Wrap the strudel with the baking paper. Make sure you close the ends. This will make the pastry softer and delicious.

Bake for about 25 minutes. Electrical oven at around 200 Cº/392 Fº.

Optional, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Enjoy!
